Criteria for Board Members
The committee formed in January 2005, prayerfully considered criteria for board members serving on the Faith Community Foundation board of directors.Combined with an awareness that the board of directors is not a deacon board and that Faith Community Foundation is not a church, the committee members recognized that the nature of the foundation activities would require a diversity of experience, knowledge, perspective, and skills.The foundation board of directors is a business board rather than a church board.Accordingly, the Faith Community Foundation Bylaws adopted on January 18, 2006, list the following criteria for board members.A director must meet the following qualifications:
- Subscribe without mental reservation to the Statement of Faith of the Foundation;
- Give a personal testimony of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as personal Savior;
- Be an active member of a local church that has a doctrinal position that is compatible with the Statement of Faith of the Foundation; and
- Be committed to resolving any issues that would cause the Director to be placed under discipline by the local church of which the Director is a member. Should a Director be placed under church discipline and that status continue for more than the period between two consecutive Board meetings, the Director shall be deemed to have failed to meet this qualification. Each Director consents to the local church, of which the Director is a member, disclosing to the Board whether the Director is under church discipline.
The committee members recognized that within the boundaries described above some people may serve on the Faith Community Foundation board of directors who would not be found on most church boards.
